About
Elliott Turner (E.T.) is a Tacoma/Seattle-based musician whose inspiration lies at the confluence of many things, namely: Classic Rock, Jazz, Baroque, and Folk. If string theory turns out correct than he picked some inter-dimensional instruments to express with! It started with playing piano and jamming with dad to Pat Metheny-inspired jams on piano. He picked up viola in school, then “taught” himself guitar (we all learned from someone and are our greatest teacher!) after wanting the real thing while playing Guitar Hero and watching School of Rock. Upright bass, mandolin, ukelele and banjo soon fell afterwards, and the organ came about as a result of church accompanying work and choir directing.
Elliott plays guitar with Susan Tuzzolino the 2nd Saturday of the month at Olympia’s La Gitana Pizzeria, throughout Tacoma with his organ trio, Threocracy (EJ Crocker on guitar and Brady McCowan on drums), and Noah Peddibon’s Baritone and B3 Trio. As of 2024, he recently joined the ranks of Seattle legend and guitarist Ari Joshua on keyboards and Jade Monroe-led rock group Sweet Marilyn. He has worked as a clinician for the Pacific Lutheran University Guitar Festival (2024), and teaches elementary music in Tacoma. His big band music has been performed by the University of Puget Sound Jazz Orchestra featuring Victor Wooten (2017) and Joshua Redman (2018). Can’t Even Feel the Blues and Alternative Facts both earned him a Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer’s Award in 2019 and 2020, respectively. He records, mixes, teaches elementary music, and might build a guitar pedal for you if you capture him in a Poke ball! Good luck though, he proudly hides in the tall grasses of fatherhood, friendship, and family. He is always inspired by the gorgeous views of the Salish Sea, the vocal work and incredible patience of his wife, Keigan Turner, and his daughter’s boundless curiosity for life and sound.
